It is refreshing and important to hear the voice of our female leaders and scholars, may Allah preserve them. This talk, by Dr. Harlina Heliza Siraj, is ver applicable to our sisters today. Not only to sisters but also to our brothers. Please do listen. It is delivered to a primarily Malay audience and has several local reference, but very easy to follow. Please share comments below. Dr. Harlina also has a fantastic sense of humour – which makes this a lovely listen. One gem from her closing remarks -‘If women ruled the world, there’d be no wars…only countries jealous of each other and not talking to each other!’ lol
Allah preserve and increase our dear teacher
Knowledge is a light and a healing…we should listen to this, it is helpful for us to understand current world events
This is a great talk by Sh. Hamza Yusuf, may Allah preserve him! It well summarizes many longer works on the ailments and cures for diseases of the hearts. And addresses modern problems. It sounds fairly old, from the audio, but still very relevant. Good quick overview of knowledge in the Muslim world and our tradition of scholarship too. If you haven’t followed longer series on diseases of the hearts, this is a must-listen talk. Even if you have, its a reminder and we all need reminders. May Allah purify our hearts and give us the strength to desist from modern vices.
A nice summary of the historical place of female scholarship in Islam, and what has happened today.
Here when Sh. Hamza says the 13th century, he means Hijri I believe, that would be about the 18-19th century CE. Here is a strong quote from him, “if we don’t have women, we don’t have men”
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullah,
By the rahma, barakah and hidaya of Allah azza wa’jal we have begun on reading Surat Yusuf in our Quran weekly class. Alhamdulillah! Here is sharing a youtube from Ustad Omar Sulaiman that has important lessons from Surah Yusuf (with thanks to our sister for sharing this), also a song from Dawud Wharnsby that celebrates this surah and finally a link to it’s beautiful recitation so its sounds can benefit our homes and hearts.
Allah bless you all
This is part of a longer talk, but it is very powerful. Hope you listen, it is only ~ 17 mins. Also, it is relevant to us all, whether high or low in our knowledge and practice of Islam. May Allah protect us all from the intrigues of our selves and of the shayateen against us!
With love from your sister, Assalamu alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh
Here’s a beautiful talk given at RIS last year by Shaykh Mokhtar Maghraou as an Eid gift to all my dear sisters and readers.
May Allah continue to elevate us after the passing of the month of mercy. May He protect us more, now that the shayateen are again unchained. May we meet another Ramadan in a higher state of Imaan, Islam and Ihsaan than we did the previous. Ameen
